Report of final results regarding brain and heart tumors in Sprague-Dawley rats exposed to far-field 1.8 GHz radiofrequency radiation

Falcioni L et al. (Ramazzini Institute) · Environmental Research · Italy

Summary

Large lifetime bioassay using far-field environmental RF exposure levels comparable to those near mobile-phone base stations. Found the same rare heart tumor (schwannoma) as the NTP study at lower exposure intensities.

Key findings

  • 01Increased schwannomas of the heart in male rats at 50 V/m
  • 02Trend of increased brain gliomas in exposed females
  • 03Effects observed well below current ICNIRP limits
